COUNSELOR II

PG 17       $2,564 per month       Full time with benefits

2 Positions -- Grant Funded (Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training-TAACCCT) 

Campus:  Logan and Williamson Campuses  Responsibilities:  Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling student services functions in the areas of marketing, recruitment, advising, registration, orientation, counseling, disability services, placement testing, degree audits, student activities, financial aid, tutorial services, Student Government Association (SGA), scheduling and conducting ACT Testing, and career planning and placement.  Responsible for developing varied structured programs, workshops, and seminars for campus delivery.  Responsible for advising students regarding academic programs, course selection, and institutional transfer; marketing the college and conducting appropriate recruiting activities to prospective students; and for organizing, planning and conducting general registration and managing the registration process, providing counseling and advising as necessary.  Requirements:  Master’s Degree in Counseling, Student Personnel (Guidance & Counseling), Psychology, or Education and at least two years of recent, relevant experience in student services, counseling, and/or academic advising.  Experience in higher education preferred.  Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication and administrative management skills.  Must be a team player and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.  Must have considerable knowledge of principles of individual appraisal, including interviewing, occupational testing, and evaluation of personal traits and abilities.  Must demonstrate skills in setting priorities, organization, time management, and problem solving.  Application review begins Monday, July 21, 2014.
