COTIGA Scholarships

Criteria

Designated to students who reside in Mingo County and are based at the Williamson Campus. However, this award does not preclude the student from registering at other college locations.
Must be a non-traditional student (age 22 or older).
Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. with a minimum score of 40.
Based on student financial need and academic promise.
The scholarship is renewable and the student may reapply each semester but renewal is not guaranteed. Renewal applicants must maintain a cumulative college grade point average of 3.0.
The student is required to submit a letter to the Cotiga Development Company expressing appreciation for the award to: Mr. Rich Snowden, President of Cotiga Development, c/o Stella Estepp, Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, Armory Drive, Williamson, WV 25661.

Amount

Amount varies. May be used for tuition and/or books.

Scholarship History

Cotiga Development Company, LLC, is a long-standing land and mineral resource company. COTIGA stands for coal (CO), timber (TI), and gas (GA). The Cotiga Scholarship also funds the Appalachian Leadership Academy Fellows Scholarships. The Cotiga Development, LLC established the following scholarships in honor of family members:
The Edward Randolph Wood, Jr. Scholarship
The Stuart Wood Scholarship
The Richard D. Wood, III Scholarship
In 2005 the Cotiga Development established the following scholarship to honor the memory of a long-time employee:
The John V. Ramey Scholarship

How to Apply

Submit application by April 15 for the Fall semester and by October 15 for the Spring semester.
