Louisville, Ky. - Nursing students from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College recently attended the National Student Nurses Association's mid-year conference in Louisville, Kentucky. The conference was held from November 9th through the 12th at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. The students attended sessions designed specifically to enhance their knowledge base as well as a National Council Licensing Exam for Registered Nurses review. The NCLEX-RN is the test nursing graduates must pass to become a registered professional nurse.
"It is always exciting to have students attend a national conference. The knowledge and experience gained by the students is invaluable. Without the support of President Joanne Tomblin, the nursing coordinator, Barbara Donahue and the nursing faculty this opportunity would not be possible," stated Pamela L. Alderman, Administrative Vice-President and Dean of Allied Health. Southern prides itself on being one of the best nursing programs in West Virginia.
Those attending the conference were Randy Belcher, Lorna Poole, Sarah Fouch, Buddy Stidham, Cynthia Mays, Brooke Knearnem, Celia Ward, Loretta Dolin, Tonia Calloway, Tabitha Dent, Alaina Frye, Robert Zickafoose, Adam Richardson, Catherine Hames, Peggy Fields, Brandon McGuire, Chris Johnson, Tiffany Preece, Kristin Neal, Ariana Jessie, Michelle Dotson, Kerri Spry Lambert, Jeremy Walls, and Teresa Preece. Southern's Student Nurses Association is sponsored by Associate Professor Shawn Cline-Riggins and Nursing Instructor Melissa Kirk.
