The Southern Samaritans are making plans to help the elderly during the upcoming holiday season. Mary Baldwin, with the Logan County Department of Health and Human Services, spoke with college representatives on October 18th about the need to assist the elderly, in nursing homes and those who are homeless and can not provide for themselves. Representatives from the college's four campuses are working together with APPALREAD to collect donations to purchase requested items.
According to Delores Lambert, a Program Coordinator for APPALREAD, deliveries to the nursing homes will be made on December 21st.
