"Continuing to Promote a More Equitable Society," was the theme of a Candlelight Vigil held on February 19th at the Logan Street Baptist Church in Williamson in celebration of Black History Month. Southern's President Joanne Jaeger Tomblin gave Harmony Week greetings and the Reverend Audie Murphy introduced the guest speaker, his wife, Benita Murphy. Approximately 60 people were in attendance. The event was sponsored by Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and the Williamson Branch of the NAACP and the Youth Council. The program will be aired on Charter Channel 17.
