The 2006-2007 Savas-Kostas Awards were presented during Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College's Commencement held on Saturday, May 12 at the Chief Logan Conference Center. Southern's Foundation President and Board of Governors member George Kostas, made the presentations to two faculty members and two classified staff members, recognizing them for outstanding service. Pictured are l-r, Surgical Technology Program Coordinator Judy Curry; Instructor Tehseen Irfan; President Joanne Jaeger Tomblin; Secretary for the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences Rita Pruitt; and Williamson Campus Service Worker Garnet Bolen. Each recipient was presented with a certificate and a monetary gift. The Savas-Kostas Awards were established in 1989 as a permanent endowment by Logan businessman, Nick Savas and family, for the purpose of recognizing the contributions of outstanding faculty and staff at Southern.
