The annual Logan Coal Vendors Association Golf Outing was recently held at the Logan Country Club. The event benefits the Southern Community College Foundation. The Logan Coal Vendors Association was established in 2001 to promote coal education and local development in our area, and higher education opportunities for local students. CEDAR (Coal Education Development Resource of Southern West Virginia, Inc.) representatives Georgene Robertson and Debbie Mudd recently presented Southern West Virginia Community College Foundation, Inc. with a check to support student scholarships. CEDAR's mission is to facilitate the increase of knowledge and understanding of the many benefits the coal industry provides in daily lives by providing financial resources and coal education materials to implement its study in the school curriculum.
For Immediate Release - Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College announced today that AT&T made a $10,000 contribution for scholarships as part of the Southern West Virginia Community College Foundation's Vision 2020 Major Gifts Campaign.
This year three students attending Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College were presented scholarships. Those students are: Ronald Jennings (Paramedic), Shawntel Canterbury (Surg Tech), and Billie J. Bigley (RN). The scholarship covers full tuition and $500 for books. The LRMC Auxiliary has presented over $200,000 in scholarships since 1991.
The Southern West Virginia Community College Foundation, Inc. held its Sixth Annual Scholarship Honor Reception on April 17, 2014 at the Chief Logan Lodge and Conference Center. The Scholarship Honor Reception honors scholarship donors and recipients. The Southern Foundation proudly recognizes donors and others who serve as contacts for Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s scholarship awards and honors the accomplishments of many talented scholarship recipients. During the 2013-2014 academic year, 262 students received scholarships totaling $336,432.62.
