April 2013 Faculty of the Month
Regina Bias is being recognized as the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, April Faculty Member of the Month.
Bias graduated from Marshall University for ADN, BSN, then attended Bellarmine College for Master’s in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration. She continued her education at West Virginia University receiving a Post Master’s Certificate in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Bias joined the nursing faculty in August 1997. She teaches second year nursing students, and is team leader for courses clinical, advisors, and preparing for the NCLEX.
She defines her role as “being able to get that light of understanding in their eyes and I know that I have done my job and maybe they can become good nurses.”
Bias serves on several committees at Southern such as the Academic Affairs, Math rubric, and has served as Pinning Chair for Nursing for the past 8 years.
Her community activities include Scouting, Cub Scout Day camp Director, help with the sporting program, Church, and Director of Merit Badge College at Southern.
Her hobbies include spending time with her children and sports, especially watching her son play.
Bias and her husband Terry have one son.
“Southern is a great place to work, because I have been blessed to work with great people and wonderful students,” Bias said.
