Mine Management

Minimum Semester Hours:
64 Semester Hours
Program Description:

This program is designed to educate individuals who will be employed as mid-level managers in the mining industry, both surface and underground. A degree in Mine Management will provide graduates a diverse range of opportunities which include a high salary, career progression, and the ability to be employed in a global profession. Mining encompasses a wide range of activities involving technology, people, equipment, financial resources, community, and environmental and regulatory agencies.

Theoretical principles and practical methodologies associated with mine management, planning, finance, evaluation and law are incorporated throughout the program. A recent upturn in the industry, which has included opening of new mines and expansion of operations at existing mines, is expected to continue. With the need to replace retiring workers and existing personnel through attrition, the industry has a promising future with a better than average employment growth. Only fourteen post secondary level mining programs exist in the nation.

A combination of WEB, WEB-enhanced, weekend fast-tracks, and traditional classroom settings are available.

Courses in the Mine Management Program are either web-based or available on the weekend.
