Southern WV Community & Technical College to Host New Student Orientation August 21

Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College will welcome incoming students to campus during New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The full-day event is designed to connect students with essential resources, campus services, and academic support to ensure a strong start to their college journey.
The day will begin with check-in from 8:30–9:45 a.m. in the commons area, where students will receive a checklist, financial aid requirement card, and parking permit form (if needed), along with a T-shirt and swag bag. Representatives from the Bursar’s Office and Library will be on-site to assist with parking permits and student ID photos.

Break-out sessions will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:35 p.m., providing both technology and informational tracks. Technology sessions will cover MySouthern, Britespace, Microsoft 365, and Help Desk services. Informational sessions will feature:

Following a lunch break from 12:40–1:30 p.m., students will reconvene for an afternoon assembly that includes an assessment survey and door prize drawings.
From 2:30–3:30 p.m., students will have the opportunity to meet directly with financial aid representatives, academic advisors, and other campus offices for final questions and assistance.
