Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence, and Dating Violence Forum to Be Held at Southern’s Williamson Campus

A Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence, and Dating Violence Forum will be held on Wednesday, February 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Commons Area of the main building on Southern’s Williamson campus. Lunch will be provided.
The forum is designed to educate the community on what constitutes human trafficking, domestic violence, and dating violence, while promoting awareness, prevention, and available resources. Topics to be addressed include how to recognize signs of possible violence both in person and through phones or computers, identifying the most pressing challenges facing the local community and how to address them, and learning about safe places, legal considerations, and where to seek help.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Patricia Desrosiers, Professor of Social Work at Western Kentucky University and a native of Williamson, West Virginia. The event will also feature participation from representatives of state agencies, local organizations, law enforcement, and legal offices.
The educational video “When Dating Hurts” will be shown during the forum.
This event is sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) under the leadership of President Melanie Hall.
