Southern WV Community and Technical College is proud to announce that students in its Surgical Technology Program have once again achieved a 100% passage rate on the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination — marking the seventh consecutive year of perfect success.

The CST exam, administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, is the national credentialing examination for surgical technologists and serves as a benchmark of excellence and readiness within the profession.

This continued achievement reflects the dedication, academic rigor, and hands-on clinical preparation provided through the Surgical Technology Program. Graduates who earn their CST credential demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the fast-paced surgical environment and provide safe, high-quality patient care.

“This accomplishment speaks volumes about the hard work and commitment of our students, faculty, and clinical partners,” said Misha Herndon, Program Director of the Surgical Technology Program. “To achieve a 100% passage rate for seven consecutive years is an extraordinary milestone and a testament to the culture of excellence we have built within our program. I could not be prouder of our students and the future surgical technologists they are becoming.”

The Surgical Technology Program continues to prepare highly skilled professionals for careers in the operating room through comprehensive classroom instruction, simulation experiences, and real-world clinical training.
