Biography

Dr. Debra Mullins Ed.D., MSN, APRN-BC, FNP-BC and GNP-BC is a Professor of Nursing. Dr. Mullins has been in the nursing profession for 48 years. Her past clinical nursing experience includes experience in acute care nursing including: Preadmission testing, emergency department, pediatrics, obstetrics, telemetry and bedside nursing care. Her experience in community care includes community health nursing and mental health nursing. Dr. Mullins has also been a nurse educator since 1987 having taught at the University of Charleston for 23 years, including three years as Chair of the ADN and BSN nursing programs. She also served as nursing faculty at Southern WV Community and Technical College for 12 years. She currently teaches NUR 133 Health Assessment and Diagnostics, NUR 134 Introduction to Nursing Concepts and NUR 144 Nursing Concepts of Health and Illness 1. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, West Virginia Nurses Association, and the GFWC The Woman’s Club of Logan. Dr. Mullins loves interacting with her students and helping them discover their potential in the field of nursing. When she is not teaching, Dr. Mullins enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, gardening, going to the movies, traveling WV and cooking. She loves animals and is an advocate for animal rights.
