Biography

Mrs. Wolford began her career at Southern 35 years ago. She has worked in the same Division/Departments of Allied Health and Nursing since being hired on June 6, 1988. Starting out as a clerk typist she has had a few title changes as a Secretary, Program Assistant II, Administrative Secretary, Sr., and has been an Administrative Associate since 2010. Mrs. Wolford’s duties include every day assistance to the Dean and faculty of the Division of Allied Health and Nursing, plus students of the departments under that Division. She is responsible for disseminating information to inquiries about the Division’s programs; inputting the schedule; assignment of classrooms; taking care of the budgets; purchasing supplies for each department either for offices or classrooms; preparing travel expense forms and taking and transcribing meeting minutes. In addition, she is responsible for receiving, reviewing and preparing applications for acceptance to Allied Health and Nursing programs each year. Mrs. Wolford has served on several committees in her years at Southern such as Professional Development for Staff, the Classified Staff Hallmark committee, commencement committee and recorder for several governance committees such as Faculty Senate, Institutional Effectiveness and Distance Education. In addition she was once chosen as Secretary of the Year and a recipient of the Savas-Kostas Staff award.
