Velva has worked at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College for 13 years in the Finance Department. Velva serves as the P-Card Coordinator, Fleet Coordinator, PCI Compliance Liaison, and Oasis Liaison. She works collaboratively with all units and departments of the institution. She was awarded employee of the year in 2015-2016.
