For those of you who are new, let me introduce myself—I’m BestFoot, Southern’s friendly Sasquatch mascot! I’m here to cheer you on, help you feel at home, and make sure you’re always putting your best foot forward during your time here at Southern.

It’s been so exciting seeing everyone back on campus this fall—the energy is incredible! On September 8, the Student Government Association (SGA) hosted our Welcome Back event, and I hope you had a blast reconnecting, meeting new friends, and celebrating the start of a brand-new semester.

If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry—there’s still time to get involved! And if you’ve got friends who feel like they missed their chance to start classes, let them know it’s not too late—seven-week classes are still open! The last day to register is October 16th, so don’t wait. Be sure your financial aid is in place and ready to go so you can start strong. 📚✨

Now, let’s talk about something spook-tacular! 🎃👻 Our next big event is Trunk or Treat! This family-friendly favorite is the perfect chance for our community partners—businesses, clubs, and organizations—to get involved. Bring your creativity, decorate a table with your best Halloween spirit, and hand out treats to students and families for an evening of frightful fun. 🕸️🦇 We’ll reserve a table just for you—just call (304) 896-7470 or email to sign up.
